The Last One.

What's next for Cross Couture.

Welcome to the thirty-fifth edition of Cross Couture, the fashion x history x economics x culture newsletter.

It’s Day 32 of my Spring Challenge - the LAST day!!

As a reminder, this challenge meant that either you get an email in your inbox 5 times per week until May 31st (which means I get a set of luxurious, vintage jammies) OR I have to donate $5 to a charity I hate for every week that I miss the goal.

AAAAANNNNDDD it’s time to pick out a new pair of pajamas evil laughter

What’s Next For Cross Couture.

I’ve loved writing for the last 45 days and 33 issues, but I’m not going to lie, I’m a little glad to take a break and try something new.

I’m still considering which direction to take the newsletter in precisely, but here are some ideas. Here’s what I’m thinking - let me know your thoughts.

  1. Start the Cross Couture Podcast

At the end of the day, fashion is a social activity. I'm excited to talk to more people working in the industry and learn about how they’re building something new.

So whether you’re a designer, an educator, a founder, a data analyst - or doing something else entirely, expect me to reach out!

  1. Market the Newsletter

It’s been fun writing this newsletter in isolation, but I’d love for more folks to share their thoughts on how culture and fashion collide. I’m considering actually talking about this newsletter on social media and growing its audience.

  1. Write in Depth

Part of what has made this newsletter so appealing is being able to jump from topic to topic and talking about something new each time. However, I’d love to really delve deep into one topic and talk about it. Maybe a 3-part series on jeans?

  1. Start the “What Are You Wearing"?” Series

As much fun as talking to folks within the industry is, fashion is really by the people, for the people. I have an idea for a series I’ve named “What are You Wearing”…and that’s all I’m going to say about it at present.

Watch this space.

  1. Focus on Styling Business

Cross Couture actually started off in 2020 as a sustainable styling business, under a different name (although I still love a good piece of alliteration). In the last few months, I’ve been creating looks for a few more clients and I’m looking forward to more!

  1. Work on Freelance Projects

I’m expanding my reach to talk to more people for freelance projects mostly in data and writing. Know anyone? Reach out!

  1. Spend Time with Friends + Learn Something New

At the end of the day, I’m also taking a break because I want to focus on other aspects of my life. I’m planning on meeting a few friends in June and learn a few more skills that aren’t strictly fashion. And this June, I plan on doing more of that <3

Thank you all so much for reading Cross Couture. You’ll see me back in your inbox soon!
